Crepitus – abnormal crunching or grating that may be heard or felt when a
joint with roughened articular surfaces moves.
Footdrop – plantar flexion of the foot with the toes bent toward the instep.
Heberden’s nodes – hard nodes on the distal interphalangeal joints in
persons with osteoarthritis.
Bouchard’s nodes – hard nodes on the proximal interphalangeal joints in
persons with osteoarthritis.
Muscle atrophy – muscle wasting.
Muscle spasms – muscle cramps; strong, painful muscle contractions.
